Water is Key to Weight Loss
When it comes to losing weight, there is one substance that is a vital internal and external part of our bodies. Without it we would die; without enough of it, our health suffers. That one substance is water and although we live in a world where there is generally an abundant supply, too often we don’t drink enough to keep us well hydrated. But the benefits of water go beyond ingestion. Let’s take a look at some ways water really benefits those who are trying to lose weight.
Do You Drink Enough Water?
The majority of people do not drink enough water. If you are trying to lose weight, you may even cut back on your water intake in order to avoid adding pounds through water weight. That’s the wrong way to think about water, which helps your weight loss efforts through aiding digestion, detoxification, metabolism and appetite suppression. And although it may seem counter intuitive, you will actually retain less water if you drink more of it! That’s because your body creates a storehouse of water, just like it will with food calories, when faced with a possible deficit.
So how much water is enough? Although the old standby of eight glasses of eight ounces per day is a good rule of thumb, that can vary widely depending on the person and the activities they are undergoing. A better way to ensure you get enough is to sip it throughout the day, every day. When you are thirsty and your mouth is dry, you are already dehydrated to some degree. Some health experts say you should strive to drink up to 2 liters of water per day; others claim the formula of 250 ml (about 8 ounces) per 10 kilograms (about 20 pounds) of body weight is optimal.
Note: there is such a thing as too much water and that condition is called hyponatremia. In this case, the sodium levels in your body are too diluted. While it’s difficult to drink too much water, it is possible so please be careful.
Water and Sweat
The amount of water you drink is also related to how much you sweat. The more you sweat, the more water you need to drink to replenish what’s lost. And sweating is good if you are determined to lose weight. Not only does sweating require the burning of calories, it helps leach out all the toxins accumulated in your body.
Of course, exercising causes you to sweat and that’s a necessary part of losing weight. But did you know you can sweat profusely without exerting yourself? Yep – with just a one-hour FIT Bodywrap® session, your body will sweat in response to being subjected to far infrared ray heat, which is perfectly safe. Your body will burn calories in order to produce this sweat, all while lying on a table and watching a movie or listening to music. A body wrap session also helps to boost your body’s metabolic rate, which burns even more calories – up to 1,400 calories!
Anytime you are going to sweat through exercise or the effortless FIT Bodywrap®, be sure that you drink lots of water before and after in order to replace those lost fluids.
Water is not only essential for our bodies and our health, it is a requisite for weight loss. Drink adequate amounts of water daily in order to boost your metabolism, increase your body’s fat burning efficiency and suppress your appetite. And don’t forget to add regular FIT Bodywrap® sessions to your weight loss regimen in order to sweat away the inches and the toxins. Find out more about how infrared body wraps works here.
