Spa Services: HydraFacial, Cryotherapy and Sensory Deprivation

The spa industry is ever changing and when we find out about  cutting-edge spa services we get excited! Wellness is a broad topic and the route we take to health depends on our bodies and goals. With the fast-paced advancement of technology, we can now experience TONS of wellness and beauty treatments. We can expose our bodies to extreme temperatures, utilize progressive equipment to give us a rejuvenating facial and we can also hideaway from the world for an hour to achieve relaxation.

After speaking with numerous Certified Providers who offer a variety of treatments along with their infrared body wraps we thought we’d explain how some of these services they work and the benefits of each. These days, the spa experience is all about results. We cannot vouch for the safety or effectiveness of the following treatments, but do feel it’s important to discuss how they work in a spa environment.

HydraFacial, Cryotherapy, Sensory Deprivation Tanks and Infrared! Spa services galore.

HydraFacial MD

We are firm believers in taking excellent care of our skin and the HydraFacial equipment and products are incredibly popular in the spa industry for their impact on skin health. As it says in the name, this is a facial service all about results and when it comes to skin care we want to see and feel that our skin is clean and hydrated so we can put our best face forward.

The thirty-minute treatment is recommended for a variety of skin types and participants report a reduction in fine lines, wrinkles, brown spots as well as an improvement in elasticity and firmness, skin tone and vibrancy. The exceptional technology used in the equipment allows an esthetician to exfoliate, extract and replenish the skin of the client providing them with quick results they can see and feel. Providers and clients love this treatment because it provides real results without irritating the skin or requiring downtime. Many will see a difference in their skin after one session and the results can be felt for up to a week after a session, but HydraFacial specialists recommend one treatment per month for even greater results. Per the HydraFacial website the company was founded in 1997 and since then the HydraFacial equipment has become popular for skincare lovers all over the world. Why? Because they see dramatic results and changes in their skin!

Cryotherapy

If you have ever sustained an injury that you iced, you have experienced a bit of cold therapy. Cool temperatures are often used to alleviate pain and improve the flow of circulation in the body. Cryotherapy treatments have been around for decades, but “Cryosaunas” have recently gained more traction in wellness centers. There are two different types of Cryotherapy sessions, whole body and partial body or “cryosauna” style. During a whole-body treatment, the participant enters an enclosed chamber at the subzero temperature of -100 °C or below for two to four minutes. The partial body treatment allows the participants head to stay out, but the temperatures and length of session are similar.

Both styles of this chilly service are used by athletes, those looking to improve body/athletic performance and those with conditions like arthritis or chronic pain. What does getting icy cold do? It triggers a survival response in the body that we call “fight or flight”. Cryotherapy companies say, during this experience blood from the skin is sent to the body’s vital organs, allowing for more oxygen, enzymes and nutrients to enter the blood. When the skin senses cold shock, it sends signals to the brain and central nervous system and after the session, it is said that the enriched blood travels back through the body to promote cell renewal. Participants claim to experience benefits such as increased circulation, pain and headache relief, insomnia relief, and increased energy.

Sensory Deprivation Tanks/Floating

When was the last time you didn’t see, or hear anything? Seriously, anything. Sensory deprivation or float services involve sixty to ninety-minute session in which the participant is floating in a large tank of magnesium (Epsom salt) saturated water and they are well, deprived of all senses. This means it’s silent, dark, you feel weightless and you’re getting some true, almost womb like me-time. Seem a little spooky? Many say their experience in the 93°F – 95°F degree water could be described as a mental detox in which they notice pain relief, improvements in the skin, better sleep, improved athletic and mental performance as well as a real sense of well-being. Experts say deep relaxation can trigger the brain to release endorphins, which may assist with fighting addiction or depression, improving the mood and more. If escaping from the world of computer and phone screens is a challenge for you in your daily life, getting your float on may provide you with a chance to really tune out.

These spa services are utilized to achieve beauty and health goals. Infrared body wraps like FIT Bodywrap are used to achieve beauty and wellness goals as well, the difference is the technology. Infrared sessions use safe and natural infrared heat to provide benefits such as weight loss, pain relief, skin rejuvenation, detoxification, cellulite reduction and more! While these services are different, it’s imperative to look at the value and benefits of each.

A quick service promising amazing results may just be too good to be true, and other services may be more about the experience, but less about the results. Do your research, try them out and be sure to seek approval from your doctor if you are unsure if a specific treatment is safe for you.
