More Therapeutic Uses of Far Infrared Therapy

With our announcement earlier this month regarding our new partnership with Dr. Aaron Flickstein, DC Emeritus (ret) as Medical Director for FIT Bodywrap©, we are looking forward to uncovering additional therapeutic uses of the industry’s leading thermowrap system. As Dr. Flickstein completes primary and secondary research on the many uses of Far Infrared Ray (FIR) therapy, we’d like to share additional research previously published, to provide you with a hint of things to come. These are just a few more examples of the potential power of infrared delivered through FIT© body wraps.

Healing With Infrared

Infrared rays have been shown to produce dramatic results in aiding the healing of wounds and other trauma to the body. Japanese researchers Hideyoshi Toyokawa et al published a study in Experimental Biology and Medicine using wounds on rats to prove that healing “was significantly more rapid with…FIR.” This was mainly due to infrared rays helping to regenerate collagen in the skin.

According to G.E. Poesnecker, N.D., D.C., FIR has the ability to reduce the amount of scar tissue produced by wounds while stimulating the growth of new tissue. The body often produces a natural inflammation response, which can be detrimental to healing, but FIR boosts the immune system’s ability to activate healing components.

Due to the ability of FIR to improve the rate of skin tissue healing, it is also beneficial as treatment for lacerations and burns. In fact, many Asian hospitals regularly incorporate infrared therapy in burn units. Other skin conditions, such as acne, clogged pores, eczema, psoriasis and even dandruff can be greatly improved with FIR treatments.

Reversing the Effects of Aging

Japanese research, which has been ongoing for quite some time, has revealed numerous benefits of FIR therapy on elderly patients. Rheumatoid arthritis, in particular, is positively affected by infrared heat treatments such as that provided by FIT Bodywraps©. In one clinical trial, seven out of 10 participants found complete relief, while another study showed FIR relieved the symptoms of all seven participants.

Studies in Japan have also shown improvement in the symptoms of bursitis, gout and traumatic arthritis. Other conditions often suffered by the elderly such as hemorrhoids, joint pain, diarrhea, weight loss and bone fractures have all been successfully treated by Dr. Sasaki Kyuo, M.D. with the use of infrared rays.

Raynaud’s Syndrome

This condition usually affects the hands and feet, causing changes in color and numbness. The associated pain and discomfort from Raynaud’s were markedly improved after FIR treatment as shown in a clinical study at the University of Toronto and published in the Journal of Clinical Therapeutics. As well, a physical therapist who uses FIR for treatment found a 20 – 50 percent improvement in those suffering from Raynaud’s.

While this is by no means an exhaustive listing of the medical conditions that can be improved with the use of FIR, it is extensive enough to demonstrate just how efficacious infrared therapy can be. Here at FIT Bodywrap© we are extremely pleased and excited to offer physical therapists, chiropractors and wellness practitioners an easy-to-use tool sure to help their patients in new, more effective ways using FIR.
