Medical Uses for Infrared Body Wraps

Most tanning salon, spa and physical therapy office owners have heard about the FIT Bodywrap© system as a way to help their clients lose excess weight. While far infrared ray (FIR) systems such as FIT Bodywrap© are great as a way to passively burn calories by sweating in response to sauna-like heat, infrared therapy is also efficacious for treating a variety of ailments. As a medical tool, it’s hard to beat the power of infrared. It is well-established as a safe and effective therapy even for patients who are largely immobile or otherwise incapacitated.

The Power of Far Infrared Radiation

Let’s start by going over a list of the general benefits of using FIR therapy. These include:

  • Circulatory improvement due to molecular vibration
  • Enhanced oxygen delivery to tissues and joints
  • Enhanced healing and regenerative effects
  • Increased rate of metabolism
  • Improved functionality of white blood cells which enhances immune response, cellular waste removal
  • Detoxification through improved lymph circulation
  • Hypothalamus stimulation to improve sleep, mood, blood pressure while decreasing pain

Specific Uses of FIR Therapy

There are many specific ailments where FIR therapy can be safely prescribed as well – and most likely many more that have yet to be discovered.

According to G.E. Poesnecker, N.D., D.C. in “Far Infrared Medical Facts”, “Photobiotherapy (FIR) will become one of the premier healing tools of our future. It will eliminate the need for many of today’s common surgical procedures. I can see the day when every household in the country will have a (FIR) unit on hand. When used properly, it is a safe, effective, natural tool that can enhance, rather than oppose, the body’s own innate healing powers.”

Arterial Flow

FIR actually improves the flow of blood through the arteries because it helps to remove the toxins such as fat, calcium, fibrin and cellular debris that often cause clots and narrow the artery. In addition, the infrared rays smooth arterial, venal and capillary walls to improve blood flow throughout the body.

Pneumonia

Doctors in Japan, China and Utah have all reported success using FIR therapy to treat pneumonia. Other conditions with similar respiratory symptoms, such as asthma, colds, flu, bronchitis and sinusitis, also respond well to infrared therapy because it clears inflammation and swelling that clog nasal passages.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Each day, more and more people are complaining of pain in the hands and wrists due to repetitive work and leisure activities. Those repetitive motions cause trauma to and often blockage of the median nerve that passes through the wrist. A doctor at the GM plant in Flint, Michigan has used FIR as part of his very successful (70% improvement rate), non-surgical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome in factory workers.

These are just a few of the very common ailments many doctors and therapists are finding to be effectively treated with the use of infrared therapy. While the FIT Bodywrap© system is not specifically designed to be a medical tool, it uses the same technology as other medical devices and therefore could prove to be a beneficial source of infrared therapy. Let us show you how infrared thermowraps work – chances are the FIT Bodywrap© system could be the most effective tool for treating many of your patients and clients.
