Home Wellness Tips
To make a list of home wellness tips is a task that approaches the impossible. There are so many things that as individuals and as a whole that can be done to improve wellness. Environment, personal care, diet, exercise, hobbies, and passions are all on the list of things that can be changed on the path to improving home wellness.
The Home Environment
Everyone can make an extensive list of things in the home that can be changed on the path to wellness. In the last couple of years we have spent more time at home than ever in our lifetimes. It led to a surge of mental health issues as well as an increase in allergies, along with feelings of being trapped, unmotivated, and as the song says, “stuck inside these four walls.”
Home is where the heart is, and it is also where the journey to wellness begins and ends. Starting with the setup, (placement of furniture and décor), decide if it is mind easing or mind-bending. Do you feel at home in your home or like a visitor? Does your setup offer comfort and ease of movement without dodging tables, lamps, and furnishings when moving from Point A to Point B. Material things that add to the clutter of the home can add to the clutter of the mind and distract from a feeling of wellness.
In a recent article published in Everyday Health entitled, “Why Decluttering Is Important for Self-Care (and When It Isn’t).” Written by Stacey Colino and Medically Reviewed by Allison Young, MD on March 9, 2022, the author notes, “Indeed, previous research examined how family members talked about their living environments in the Los Angeles area. Women who described their homes as being more cluttered had increased levels of the stress hormone cortisol and greater depressed mood throughout the day compared with women who described their homes as more restful and restorative.”
Ending depressive situations is a start to living in a Wellness state of mind. While undertaking a major cleaning and decluttering, be sure to protect yourself from pollutants. Choose home cleaning products that do the job without poisoning you, your family, pets, and your home environment. Even when choosing the least offensive cleaners on the market with certified safe chemical footprints, protect yourself from inhaling them through your nose and mouth with a mask. (by this time we are all used to wearing masks. Wearing one should be part of every cleaning task, inside and out.)
Diet, Exercise, Passions, and Relaxation
Step two is decluttering the self. Examine diet and exercise habits. Set purposeful goals to get them on track to improve your personal wellness and that of those around you. Home goals for body wellness should include personal care time.
Set aside time for at-home facials, skincare, and meanderings baths without limits. Invest in luxury lotions that truly are effective in how your skin feels and looks after application. Professional spa accessories are available for home wellness time at FIT, the suppliers for luxury spas.
Make time for your passions. No matter what your passion is, the things that you genuinely care about, make time for them. The wellness of your mind and soul are at stake. If your passion is exercise or a physical endeavor, your mind, body, and soul will thank you.
