WHat is Infrared Therapy & how Does It Work?
What is Infrared Therapy?
Infrared therapy, also known as heat therapy, has been used for centuries as a natural and holistic approach to healing. Harnessing the power of invisible infrared light, this innovative technology penetrates deep into your body, gently warming your muscles and tissues from within. Unlike traditional saunas, our infrared sauna wrap system operates at a lower temperature, making it a more comfortable and accessible option for everyone.
Infrared therapy offers a multifaceted approach to well-being. It relieves stress by promoting relaxation and releasing endorphins, fostering tranquility for both the body and mind. The deep sweat induced during infrared sessions aids in detoxification, eliminating harmful substances and heavy metals. Effective in pain relief, it improves blood circulation, delivering oxygen-rich nutrients to muscles and joints for faster recovery. With a positive impact on sleep, infrared therapy encourages deep relaxation for a restful and rejuvenating rest. Furthermore, it contributes to enhanced skin health by stimulating collagen production, improving elasticity, and reducing fine lines and wrinkles through increased blood flow.
What are infrared rays?
Infrared, the invisible yet tangible form of light and energy, answers the intriguing questions of what makes our bodies feel warm, even on cloudy days, and the heat we sense during a hug or from the sun. While visible light is just a fraction of the broader electromagnetic spectrum; it is a natural, energy-releasing process. Infrared specifically occupies the unseen spectrum touching the red end of visible light, with wavelengths ranging from 800nm to 1mm. Scientists affirm that warmth and light go hand in hand, as warm objects, including celestial bodies and humans, emit light. Exploring infrared heat unveils three distinct types: Near Infrared, with the shortest wavelength penetrating the epidermis; Mid Infrared, of medium wavelength aiding increased circulation; and Far Infrared, the longest wavelength directly heating the body, offering therapeutic benefits by penetrating deeply.
How do they effect us?
At FIT our system specializes in the use of Far Infrared rays (FIR). FIR have diverse applications, particularly in promoting well-being. With wavelengths ranging from 4 to 1,000 microns, FIR is naturally occurring, constituting up to 80 percent of sunlight. As the human body, predominantly composed of water and other organic substances, possesses wavelengths of 5 to 15 microns, it readily absorbs FIR waves. These waves penetrate the body, reaching a depth of two to four inches. FIR technology heats the body safely from the inside, promoting calorie burning and eliminating toxins and stored fat. The process improves circulation by dilating blood vessels and capillaries, while the body radiates heat outward through conduction and convection, loosening muscles and joints. Ultimately, FIR offers a therapeutic approach to enhance overall health, utilizing the body’s natural processes for optimal well-being.
How do FIT Bodywrap Systems work?
Our systems utilize far infrared heat to directly immerse the body, raising core body temperature, elevating heart rate, and enhancing blood circulation, mimicking the effects of cardiovascular exercise. This process results in a range of benefits associated with improved well-being.
Does hotter mean better?
When the body is exposed to temperatures above normal levels, the nervous system responds by releasing acetylcholine, which activates sweat glands, initiating the process of perspiration to cool the body and maintain thermal equilibrium.
As acetylcholine continues to be released until the body returns to normal temperatures, subjecting the body to extremely high temperatures, exceeding 140°F, offers no additional benefits but imposes unnecessary stress. Infrared heat differs from medicine, where a higher dose may enhance results
